Andy's Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Andy’s Restaurant along Barking Road feels like finding a warm, genuine corner of Romania nestled in the heart of East London. This cozy, welcoming space strikes a quiet balance — it’s intimate enough to feel personal but spacious enough to settle in without rush or crowd. The lighting leans toward the softer side, creating an inviting atmosphere where conversations unfold easily and the pace slows just enough to savor the moment.
The mood here is unpretentious and comfortably familiar, reflecting the spirit of a traditional Romanian table shared among friends and family. Large, generous portions arrive with a relaxed confidence, inviting you to linger over each bite and maybe even take some away for another day’s enjoyment. Here, the food feels like a story told through time-honored recipes — from the soothing tang of ciorba to the satisfying heartiness of grilled meats and freshly made papanași that punctuate the meal with a sweet finish.
Andy's isn’t about modern culinary showmanship; it’s about a grounded, authentic experience. The flavors speak in the quiet language of homemade care, a sentiment echoed in the simple yet thoughtful touches throughout the dining experience. It’s a spot where you might find yourself leaning back with a glass of Romanian wine, appreciating how the familiar rhythms of good food and good company make even a weekday evening feel a little more special.

The restaurant itself is lovely, not overly large or small, just the right size, cosy and inviting. My reason for 4* food, the portions are very large, the quality, the taste, very good it's just a lot of food on a plate, we had to end up taking it away. Some may not mind this, but it's easier to eat enough at the restaurant itself, so just a criticism of my opinion. But thank you for a lovely evening, we will return. Thank you. Highly recommend the wine. It's a half sweet wine. Absolute favourite Romanian white wine.

The food is delicious, Romanian authentic traditional home-made and the service is very good. The atmosphere is a little dark, the restaurant would be more visible, inviting if it would be brighter. But its definitely worth trying the food! ( and the lemonade!)

I had grilled carp with mămăligă. It was a very good meal.

Nice restaurant, pretty clean. Big portions and fair prices. Tasty traditional romanian food. Service not bad but with room for improvement. Overall, was a good experience. We will come back.

My go-to spot for warm, tasty, high-protein food at a good price. I eat, I leave — quick and easy. The staff is always friendly.
